FWA
The Cool Club collaborated with FWA
and Taschen to make a deck of cards
displaying the 54 coolest websites in
history. The cards are released
alongside the book ‘Web Design, The
Evolution of the Digital Era 1990-today’
by Rob Ford (FWA) and Julius
Wiedemann (Taschen). FWA was
established in May 2000 as Favourite
Website Awards, in England, UK.
Creating an interactive world
To coincide with the launch of the cards
and the book, we made an interactive
gallery website to display the cards. We
built the website using three.js to bring
the cards to life in animated 3D. Each card
interacts with the user by elevating up to
tell the story of the influential website
behind each card, there is also a link to
allow the user to join an online discussion.
The end result is a fully interactive online
deck of cards that showcases the
illustrations and stories behind each card.
